Chiddingstone Castle
is revealing two new exhibitions from the 25th May 2009, a Buddhist exhibition and further additions to the castle exhibition revealing the history of both the castle and its former owners. The late Denys Eyre Bower spent a great deal of money collecting artefacts of Oriental culture and art, included among these are many items with a Buddhist influence emphasising the beauty of oriental culture. Objects on display include Tibetan, Chinese and Japanese Buddhist statues, shrines, charms, prayer wheels and tangkas (Tibetan temple banners). The other collections on display at the castle, include ancient artefacts from Japanese, Egyptian, Stuart and Jacobean history. The Castle is open to visitors Monday to Wednesday and some Thursdays for Special events, 11am – 5pm until 27th September 2009. Groups are welcomed by prior arrangement (min 20 people).
