Case Studies
Go outdoors
Taking students outside the classroom is a rewarding and fun way to enhance the learning that happens in school. Many fond memories from school are of the trips that were relevant and meaningful. Trips into the hills to learn about survival, history and have loads of fun at the same time. Trips that let students learn to know their teachers in different contexts, which, in turn, strengthens relationships back at school.
Opportunities to learn in different contexts, with fellow students, help to develop certain skills which are necessary later in life. The types of skills a young person develops while learning with their peers in school trip situations can often be difficult, or impossible, to develop in a classroom context.
The importance of school trip experiences in terms of supportive development can:
- Provide a platform for developing investigative skills to be learnt in context rather than in isolation.
- Involve the students in their learning in personal and relevant ways.
- Spark curiosity and creativity.
- Are real life experiences rather than classroom experiences.
- Provide multi-disciplinary learning opportunities (cross-curricular and independent learning skills).
Here we share a range of real school trips and invite visitors to make contact if they have a particular school trip story to tell. Please write to schoolvisits@rapportgroup.com.
